NFPA 1910 Chapter 23 - NDT | 5-Year Test

NDT shall be conducted on aerial devices as follows:

• At least every 5 years
• Whenever visual inspection or load testing indicates a potential structural or safety problem
• When there is a desire to further confirm continued operational safety

It takes 5-8 hours to perform NDT completely, per unit.

• A 5-Year Test is scheduled for two full days (Day 1: Annual Aerial Test | Day 2: NDT)
• Structural weldments are cleaned (if necessary) to obtain good readings.
• Every accessible structural component will be inspected using the appropriate NDT method. 

The following NDT services are available:

• Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Visual Testing (VT)
• Hardness Testing

An Electronic Inspection Report will be Available Immediately Following the Inspection.
