Aerial Re-Inspection - Out-of-Service Deficiencies
- NFPA 6.1.4 The emergency vehicle shall be returned to service only after the defects and deficiencies that caused the emergency vehicle to be taken out of service have been corrected and the defective component retested to satisfy the component manufacturer’s specification and the requirements of NFPA 1910.
- Retesting can be accomplished by a qualified technician or 3rd party test company.
Re-Inspection for Certificate
- An aerial device re-inspection, for a certificate, is not a requirement of NFPA.
- Per ISO: To comply with NFPA; Keep your repair paperwork with your aerial inspection report. No further action required.
- Per ISO: If a certificate is required by the client; a re-inspection of all defects found, must be conducted, in person.
Out-of-Service Deficiencies (NFPA 1910, Chapter 6)
- Power takeoff (PTO) that will not engage
- Stabilizer system that is not operational
- Aerial device that is not operational
- Hydraulic system components that are not operational
- Cable sheaves that are not operational
- Cables that are frayed
- Base and section rails that show ironing beyond the manufacturer’s recommendations
- Aerial device that is structurally deformed
- Torque box fasteners that are broken or missing
- Turntable fasteners that are broken or missing
